(WLTX) --- A win Saturday over Wofford will give Steve Spurrier 64 career wins at USC, tying him with Rex Enright for the most in school history.
"When I got the job here, I just sort of checked out the history," said Spurrier at his weekly news conference.
"We've had some really good coaches here, guys with winning records. It is always interesting looking at history and sort of see what's happened."
When Spurrier was hired after the 2004 season, he told fans constanstly one of his goals was to leave USC as the all-time winningest coach.
"The only reason I said that was a goal of mine because I wanted people to know I would be here eight, 10 years and go from there. That's the reason I said that. I said it the first year that was my goal. Hopefully it will happen, but it hasn't happened yet. Hopefully it will. We'll just wait and see."
