Columbia, SC (WLTX)-- Every year nearly 800 recently diagnosed breast cancer patients come through the doors of Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.

Each person's diagnosis is as different as their lives before breast cancer and because of that, a special nurse navigator helps lead them through the steps of their treatment.

Dottye Wodogaza is just one of many nurse navigators trained to help patients through what for many is the most difficult time of their lives.

Nancy Lamberson was diagnosed in October and says Wodogaza has "been an angel."

Healthcare experts say the key to surviving breast cancer is early detection.

Buddy Call19 is our partnership with Palmetto Health Richland that stresses the importance of performing a monthly self breast exam.
