Irmo, SC (WLTX) - Irmo police have identified the suspect they say was shot while trying to enter a man's home.
Investigators say he's 22-year-old Stephen Labrew.
Officers say Tuesday morning, a man in the Friarsgate neighborhood said a banging noise coming from the lower part of his home woke him up. As a precaution, the man took his gun with him downstairs to check out the sounds. When he went into the kitchen, officers say, he found Labrew coming through the window.
The man responding by firing his gun, and a bullet hit Labrew.
Police say Labrew then ran from the home and collapsed on North Royal Tower Drive. He was taken to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Officers say Labrew's last known address was also in the Friarsgate subdivison.
Irmo police also revised Wednesday their earlier report about how many times Labrew was struck by gunfire. Tuesday, they said he'd been shot once; however, officers have now determined that what they thought were two bullet strikes were actually entry and exit wounds from one bullet.
No charges have been filed, and offices continue to investigate.
