Fairfield County, SC (WLTX) - Fairfield County deputies are searching for a Winnsboro Public Safety officer they say shot his estranged wife.
SLED and Fairfield County Deputies are still looking for Winnsboro Public Safety officer Mike Roseboro.
The shooting took place outside a townhome on Eighth Street just before 10 a.m.. Deputies have not been able to locate the suspect so far.
"This whole situation bothers all law enforcement, domestic violence is terrible in this state and country, but when you have a police officer that does it, it makes it worse," said Chief Deputy Keith Lewis.
Lewis says Roseboro shot his wife from his patrol vehicle as she stood on the sidewalk. Lewis says their children were present during the incident and are now in the care of family members.
The patrol vehicle was later found Monday morning, but Roseboro was not inside.
He says they are treating this case just like any other criminal domestic violence case.
"Of course you treat it like any other case, he is someone who committed a crime that he should not have done. There is a warrant out for his arrest, he is charged with attempted murder, of course we are doing everything we can to find him, You know just being a police officer, it's something that's hard to deal with," said Lewis.
Roseboro has been an officer with the Winnsboro Department of Public Safety for three months and was a deputy with the Fairfield County Sheriff's Department for nine years.
According to Lewis, the victim is in stable condition. SLED is now investigating.
