Richland County, SC (WLTX) - The Richland County Coroner's office says a pregnant woman found dead in a woods fire had been shot.
Coroner Gary Watts released his findings Friday afternoon.
Firefighters found the woman's body off Screaming Eagle Road Thursday afternoon as they were putting out a woods fire.
Watts says the woman was shot and killed first, then set on fire.
The victim is an African-American female, 20 to 35 years of age and probably at the lower end of that age range, approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighed between 120 and 135 pounds.
Watts says the woman was 21-weeks pregnant.
Anyone with information concerning the possible identification of the victim is asked to call the Richland County Coroners office at 803-576-1799.
