Man Accused of Beating in Columbia's 5 Points

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police arrested a suspect in connection with an assault last month in Columbia's Five Points.

Donnell Rashied Burney, 20, is charged with second-degree assault by a mob.

Officers say Burney and two other unknown men fought with the victim in the 800 block of Harden Street early on February 16th.
According to police, Burney hit the vicitm in the head and face, then threw the person to the ground and kicked him in the head.

Officers say the victim suffered a fractured jaw and lost consciousness. The person was treated at a local hospital.
