Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Some South Carolina lawmakers are looking forward to the 2012's presidential election--so much so they've asked U.S. Representative Mike Pence to seek the Republican nomination for president.
South Carolina Representatives Eric Bedingfield, Kris Crawford, Phyllis Henderson, Dwight Loftis, Wendy Nanney, Ralph Norman, and Gary Smith joined with Senators Lee Bright, Kevin Bryant, Ronnie Croomers and Phillip Shoopman in calling for the Indiana Congressman to make a run.
The group has started a Facebook page and Twitter account for what they call a grassroots campaign.
Crawford spoke of Pence's conservative record in fiscal and social issues.
"Add himself to the folks that's gonna come down here and present themselves to the voters of South Carolina to lead this nation back from the precipice of socialism where we find ourselves today and into a brighter tomorrow that we know he can," said Crawford.
The group says it has not made contact with Pence. They say they have a lot of planning to do in their efforts.
