(Columbia/WLTX) --- You don't have to remind Benedict head coach Stan Conner that his quarterback is a gifted athlete.
Pat Riley has pulled double-duty at Benedict, competing in football and track. Now Riley will be doing double-duty on the field for the Tigers.
Conner told News19 that there are plans to put Riley on special teams as a punter and kick returner. The coach says he wants Riley to be able to showcase everything in his arsenal to the NFL scouts.
The senior quarterback has already shown his speed, putting up a 4.4 second time in the 40-yard dash for the scouts at Benedict's most recent Pro Day.
His speed and quickness make the option attack the perfect scheme for him on the college level. But in the NFL, Riley figures his best shot is as a kick returner or situational running back.
But before he starts fully focusing on his NFL dreams, Riley will focus on his final season with at Benedict and helping the team improve on last year's 8-3 record.
