Lafayette, IN (WLFI) - A lesson turned deadly on the campus of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, when a beloved teacher fell to his death as students looked on helplessly.
Craig Porter, 37, fell nearly 70 feet during a training exercise with students.
"Craig was a good guy, said Jason Seniw, one of Porter's students. "He was a good teacher he was one of the guys kind of around here and he'll be missed."
Porter taught wind and solar energy technology courses with a passion like none other.
"He brought a lot of excitement in every day he was always enthusiastic he often commented that he shouldn't get paid for doing his work because he had so much fun," said Jason Grogg, another Ivy Tech student.
It was enthusiasm that led Porter to go the distance, doing what he enjoyed most, sharing his experience and love for technology and teaching.
An investigation into Porter's fall is underway.
