Columbia, SC (WLTX) - According to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, about 400,000 Americans are living with MS, a terrifying number for many. But here are some good numbers: three people are riding their bikes 3,000 miles and have raised about $20,000 to fight the disease.

On Friday, Sallie Marcant, along with Steve Romanshek, and AnnaMary Richmond, set off from Columbia on their bikes on their continued ride to Charleston. However, there journey didn't start here--not even close.

On October 4th, the trio began started biking from San Diego all in an effort to raise money for The National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The motivation behind the trip is a sad one. AnnaMary's father fought MS for 15-years before passing away 2 years ago from a heart attack, Steve's grandmother is currently fighting the disease and Sallie... well, she just loves her friends and is riding to support them.

When they first set out about 3,000 miles ago their fundraising goal was $5,000; now their almost at $20,000. This money was not easy to raise. It's been 62 days of seemingly endless riding rain or shine and often sleeping in tents where ever they can pitch one.

Their biking journey will end on Sunday when they finally reach Charleston. They will then drive to the Arlington National Cemetery which is where AnnaMary's dad, David Richmond, is buried.

The trio has blogged all along the way and has great stories and pictures to share http://coasttocoasttofindacure.wordpress.com/about/ . It's not too late to donate either, just go to www.nationalmssociety.org/goto/annamary to do so.
