Lexington Co. (WLTX) - A driver is dead after a collision on I-26.
Monday at 1:25 p.m., Cpl. Bob Beres with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said there was a two-car accident on I-26 eastbound at mile marker 110.
Beres said a 2004 Toyota Camry was traveling east in the center lane when Jacquelyn Burton, 83, lost control. The vehicle spun and was struck on the driver's side by a 2001 Buick Le Sabre who was also traveling east.
Burton was transported to Lexington Medical Center where she later died. She was wearing a seat belt. Burton's passenger was also wearing a seat belt and was transported to Palmetto Health Richland.
The driver of the Le Sabre was also wearing a seat belt and had two passengers. Only one passenger was wearing a seat belt. Both of them were taken to Palmetto Health Richland as well.
Beres said the SCHP is investigating the crash.
