GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a sport utility vehicle fatally struck a 58-year-old Greenville man as he was walking home.
Greenville County Deputy Coroner Kent Dill says Roy Crane had just visited friends when the SUV hit him about 8 p.m. Sunday on Woodside Avenue, about three miles west of the city. He was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.
Dill says Crane was wearing dark clothing and was probably crossing the street. He believes the driver didn't see him until she hit him.
Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Tony Keller says the SUV driver was traveling north on Woodside. He says 26-year-old Charlotta Gary of Greenville was not injured.
Troopers say no charges have been filed, and the accident remains under investigation.
