Hillary Rodham Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State is drawing to a close, but speculation about her future plans is only just beginning.
Clinton does not appear to be closing the door on a 2016 presidential run -- witness her comment when asked if her departure from the State Department amounts to "retirement."
"I don't know if (that is the) word I would use," Mrs. Clinton told reporters, "but certainly stepping off the very fast track for a little while."
Repeat: "For a little while."
To be continued.
President Obama has nominated Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to replace Mrs. Clinton as Secretary of State.
"Obviously, it's somewhat bittersweet," Clinton said. "I am very much looking forward to doing everything we can these last few weeks to resolve and finish up wherever possible and then to ... have a very smooth, seamless transition to Senator Kerry to continue the work."
