Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Middle of winter? These days, it feels more like mid-spring in the Midlands.
For the third straight day, Columbia set a new record high daily temperature. Monday it reached 81 degrees, breaking a mark set back in 1932.
The normal high temperature is 56.
It was so hot, the temporary ice skating rink in downtown Columbia melted slightly, making the rink unusable for several hours.
The high mark continued a trend that began on Saturday, when it got up to 82. That temperature broke a mark set in 1916. Sunday, it reached 78 degrees.
Saturday and Monday are the 19th and 20th days ever that temperatures have reached 80 degress or above in Columbia since records began in 1887.
Things will be getting back to normal quickly, however: the forecast high for Friday is 53, and Saturday morning's low is expected to get down to 33 degrees.
