Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A Columbia man has been charged with unlawful conduct towards a child according to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.

On January 17, Sheriff Lott said that 20-year-old Jeremy Strickland was babysitting a two-year-old while her mother was at work.

While the mom was at work she received a text message from Strickland saying that he was sorry for hitting the child, according to officers.

When the mother came home she saw bruises on her daughter's face and neck and took her to the Richland County Sheriff's department Region Four headquarters.

Strickland turned himself in to Sheriff's department the next morning and he was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
