Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The Barclay School is marked for being a progressive school, but recently they've been making waves with a big company across the pond.
"I think that the children and I are kind of flattered that we're on Barclays bank's radar," said Dr. Gillian Barclay-Smith.
Students at the Barclay School go about most of their day playing with their pet bunnies or doing a bit of yoga. But lately the school's been dealing with an international powerhouse.
"They are huge, they were the bank that I grew up with in England," she said.
Dr. Gillian Barclay-Smith received a letter from the Barclays bank in the U.K. that asked her to cease and desist with using the name within a URL they had bought.
"They're OK with the name of the school. Or at least they are right now," she said.
Although most would see a lawsuit as a scary situation, Barclay-Smith is in high spirits.
"Actually the day I got the letter I laughed all day," she said. "I just thought it was so funny that such a huge organization as Barclays bank would, first of all, even know that we exist here in Columbia, S.C."
And she's actually willing to work with the bank for a price.
"I am fine with at using it. Especially, if Barclays bank would be kind enough to sponsor one of our children because we are a small non-profit school then I would have no problem whatsoever with working with them," Barclay-Smtih said.
The deadline has since passed, but Dr. G, as the kids call her, says she's not paying it much mind.
"I'd much rather spend whatever energy I have working with the kids, having fun with the kids and doing with the kids," she said. "That's just a negative energy I'd rather not waste. I'd much rather have fun with the kids and use my energy that way."
The school has already received some help. An intellectual property lawyer in the upstate has agreed to look over the case.
