Deputies: Man Asked 14-Year-Old to Get in Car

Lexington, SC (WLTX)  - The Lexington Sheriff's Department is seeking to identify and locate a man who asked a 14-year old girl to get into his car.

The teen told police that after she got off the school bus at her stop on Edmund Highway in Lexington the man asked her if she needed a ride.  She told deputies that she bent down to see who the man was but did not recognize the person.

She told the man, according to the incident report, that she did not need a ride and the man began to get out of his car.  At this point the girl told officers that she thought the man was going to try to get her into his vehicle, so she walked away. 

The girl told officers she heard the man get back into the car and she looked back and saw the car being driven towards her.  She ran home and told her mother who contacted authorties. 

According to Sheriff James Metts, the 14-year-old girl told school resource officers that the man was a heavy-set, older man with a mullet hair cut and a long grey beard.  The girl also told officers that he was wearing glasses and spoke in a deep voice. 

The man, according to the teen, told officers that the man was driving a red, older model four-door motor vehicle and the headlight, on the front passenger's side of the vehicle was broken.  A thin piece of black tape was placed across the middle of the vehicle's rear windshield.
