Columbia, SC (WLTX) - This spring break, more than 80 University of South Carolina students are spending their time helping others.
From China to Cuba, students are spending the break making service-learning trips, community service activities and other alternative spring break experiences.
The largest group of students is on the New Jersey coast to help with Hurricane Sandy cleanup.
Other students are Alabama helping making backpack meals at the West Alabama Food Bank, while still another group
is in New Orleans doing service work in the Lower Ninth Ward, which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Those students are painting and helping restore and rebuild homes in the poverty-stricken community.
