  • The 4th annual Colon Cancer Challenge brought bikers and runners to Dutch Fork High School
  • Runners hit the road in Irmo as part of the Lexington Medical Center Colon Cancer Challenge

Irmo, SC (WLTX) --- A wet start to the Saturday morning did nothing to stop participants in the fourth annual Lexington Medical Center Colon Cancer Challenge at Dutch Fork High School.

The Challenge featured 65, 50 and 26-mile bike rides, in addition to an 8K run. Bikers and riders braved the cold and damp conditions as they made their way through the Irmo community.

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month and the Challenge represents a major effort by Lexington Medical Center in the fight against that disease.

The event was created by LMC in an effort to raise awareness and funds for colon cancer screening. Colon cancer is the only preventable form of cancer.
