NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum says former Charleston County Councilman Curtis Bostic is the fresh, conservative face that South Carolina's 1st Congressional District needs in Washington.
The former Pennsylvania senator appeared with Bostic Wednesday at an auto repair shop in North Charleston.
Santorum said the pair had spoken several times by phone, but this was their first in-person meeting.
Bostic faces former Gov. Mark Sanford on Tuesday in a GOP runoff. The two were the top vote getters in last week's GOP primary. They face off Thursday in a debate.
Six primary candidates have backed Sanford. Only one has announced support for Bostic.
When asked about that support for Sanford, Bostic pointed out a former presidential candidate is by his side.
