COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's workforce agency is releasing the state's unemployment picture for February.
The state Department of Employment and Workforce is set to reveal the state's new jobless figures on Friday.
State unemployment continued its upward creep in January, rising a tenth of a point to 8.7 percent. Workforce officials attributed an 8,500-job drop in the government sector to seasonal layoffs and the closing of schools between semesters.
The national jobless rate also increased slightly in January, from 7.8 percent in December to 7.9 percent.
