Tampa, Florida -- It seems Tampa is in the national spotlight yet again... this time, because of a taco.

It's the lion taco at Taco Fusion that's causing the controversy, but many people have lined up to try the "mane" attraction on the restaurant's "Safari" menu.

"Wow. Tastes like steak... filet, in fact," said one customer.

But some people are boiling mad, irate that Taco Fusion is serving lion. The business has even received death threats.

"Bomb threats, fire threats... One man said he was going to come in here and rape and kill us," said manager Brad Barnett. "One guy came in and started throwing punches, so we called police."

Big Cat Rescue in Hillsborough County is just one place raising its voice in disapproval.

"These are the most majestic of creatures and to chop them up for tacos is just the most wrong thing ever," said rescue founder Carole Baskin.

But Taco Fusion is quick to point out that all their exotic meat comes from a federally regulated distributor, and that it's safe, fresh and -- most importantly -- legal.

"People around the world are eating this stuff. We are just trying to expose it to Tampa," said Barnett.

People we spoke to said it's a free country.

"We come here to eat because the food is good. I don't want to eat lion, but it's legal so what's the problem? I don't understand what all the drama is about," said one customer.
