COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The University of South Carolina is hosting a four-day retreat for musicians designed to help them financially and professionally.
The sessions begin Thursday and run through Sunday on the campus in Columbia.
The workshops are designed to help musicians become better entrepreneurs and develop their skills in marketing themselves as performers.
The attendees will also learn how to develop a comprehensive business model and marketing strategy. They are able to present their ideas to judges and get feedback on their efforts and compete for awards.
The event is geared to help college music students, college music faculty and administrators, professional musicians and chamber ensembles. The university says all slots for the event have been filled.
