Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The Richland County Coroner's office has identified a mother of five who was shot to death during a robbery early Monday morning.

According to Coroner Gary Watts, 33-year-old Kelly L. Hunnewell of Columbia was shot on Tommy Circle in Columbia. That's located off of Beltline Boulevard. Previous Coverage: Woman Killed Early Monday Morning

Investigators say the shooting took place at about 3:30 a.m. In a surveillance video released by officers, three suspects can be seen running into the bakery. Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago tells us that the individuals attempted to rob Hunnewell.

Santiago says Hunnewell saw the suspects' weapon and tried to get away, and that's when she was shot and killed.

"It is very hard to say what race or age [of the suspects] and this is really a plea to the public, if anyone knows any information about what happened, we are talking about a mother of very young children and we want justice to be served."

Columbia police were called to the scene by a neighbor. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Friends say Hunnewell worked the early shift at a bakery so she could spend her daytime hours with her children.

"This is a member of our community and someone who is just trying to provide for her family and we had individuals that took that away from not only our community but her family as well," said Chief Ruben Santiago.

In the neighborhood that Hunnewell lived in everyone who knew her said she was funny and had an infectious smile.

Shontell Green lives across the street from Hunnewell, she says it is a struggle for her to know that her friend is no longer here.

"I can't it is very painful for me to even think about it, the only thing I could do is think about the kids and be strong for the kids and its sad it's really sad," said Green.

"I hope they catch them, whoever it was I hope they catch them."
