Man Hit in Head with Bottle, Robbed in Shandon

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police are investigating after a man was robbed and beaten in Columbia's Shandon Neighborhood early Sunday morning.

The incident took place on Monroe Street near Harden Street, just a few blocks from Five Points.

Officers say a man in his 20s reported that around 2:15 a.m., he was walking down Monroe when a car slowed near him. He says two men inside the vehicle then came up to him and demanded his money and belongings. Officers say one of the suspects hit the victim in the head with a bottle, causing him to fall into a patch of shrubs.

Police say the suspects took the victim's wallet, an iPhone, and his t-shirt.

The victim was taken to the hospital. Doctors told police his injuries are non life-threatening.
