Blythewood, SC (WLTX) -- Under the hot August sun, Coach Dan Morgan is exactly where he has been for the last 16 years, on a football field.

High school football practice is in full swing and in just a few weeks the regular season will begin for the Blythewood Bengals and other program around the state.

However, even as Coach Morgan prepares his team for the upcoming season, he himself is hoping to lose big, but not on the gridiron.

"I met my wife and she is such a fantastic cook, I started putting on the weight," said Morgan.

"Of course once you get the kids, you stopped doing all of those extracurricular stuff that use to do, everything is focused on the kids and I just gained so much weight in the last 10 years," according to Morgan.

Now the first year head coach at Blythewood is using his very public position to push himself in his private life.

"I looked at my kids one day and I was putting them through all these drills and workouts, I push them so hard and I kept saying, now wait a second, I'm not doing it," according to Morgan.

Through the website 10centsapound.com, Morgan is now losing the weight and gaining some extra cash towards his program, through donations for the pounds he drops.

"When we started this whole thing and I talked to him about it, he was on board right away, he really wanted to raise money for Blythewood football," said Patrick Mohan.

Mohan is a former student and player of Morgan's, he is one of the founders of the website and is inspired by his former coach.

According to Mohan, "When I see his facebook updates and his page that he has done the elliptical for 30 minutes and he has done the kettle balls and he has been to practice and he is exhausted, it makes you want to work harder."

That is most important to Morgan, to not only be there for his current and former students, but to be there for the future student and players as well.

Coach Morgan's goal is to lose 65 pounds in 150 days, he says he has lost about 24 pounds and still has until early December to reach his goal.
