GREENVILLE, S.C. (Greenville News) - A 12-year-old has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a Taylors teenager earlier this month, authorities said.
On Sept. 11, Trayvon Dodd was found shot to death in the backyard of a home at 1 Woodleigh Drive, said Master Deputy Jonathan Smith, of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office. The 12-year-old was questioned on the day of the incident, Smith said.
The 12-year-old is in custody at the Greenville County Juvenile Detention Center and will have a hearing on Monday morning in family court, Smith said.
Dodd's death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy, Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans said. He died of a single gunshot wound, Evans said.
Oby Lyles, a spokesman for Greenville County Schools, said Dodd was a student at Riverside Middle.
