Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The Children's Trust of South Carolina is a statewide organization dedicated to keeping the children safe from abuse, neglect and unintentional injuries.
Friday the organization, along with Gov. Nikki Haley, met to discuss ways to keep children safe through prevention strategies and to acknowledge DSS completing for the first time the Program Improvement Plan or PIP.
The CEO of Children's Trust says those prevention strategies will save money for the tax payers in the long run.
"Because it costs money to have government intervention and so whatever we can do on the prevention side we all know prevention is a lot less costly then treatment services and intervention and all the things that have to happen afterwards," said Sue Williams, the Children's Trust SC CEO.
Children's Trust says while the meeting with the governor was productive, they still have a long way to go to try and help all 46 counties with prevention education.
