Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Ike McLeese is stepping down as the leader of the organization.
News19 has learned McLeese will leave the organization at the end of the year, ending a nearly 20 year tenure with the group.
As the leader of the chamber, McLeese works to promote the Columbia business community to people inside and outside of South Carolina. He's also taken a lead role in trying to protect Midlands military bases from potential U.S. Defense Department closures.
Last month, McLeese suffered a mild heart attack, and announced that he would be away from his normal duties for several weeks.
