Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Midlands Technical College received the largest grant in the school's history Wednesday.
The $25 million grant from the US Department of Labor will help recruit and train low-skilled workers and displaced workers towards healthcare careers. Thousands of displaced workers and other students can earn credentials for entry-level heathcare jobs within one year through the new program.
The money will not only help Midlands Tech but six other colleges in our state as well as in Alabama and North Carolina.
Midlands tech will receive $8.3 million to implement its local program and administer the grant on behalf of the other five colleges. The balance of the grant will be awarded to the other participating institutions.
