Chapin, SC (WLTX) -  For 21 years the Chapin Police Department was crammed in the old town hall, but after ten years of planning, officers now have moved into a new $3.5 million dollar space.

Chapin Police Chief Troy Crump said the old town hall used to be a high school and then became a doctor's office.

"I actually remember going to that doctor's office as a kid," Crump said.

The new town hall has more space for the police department, which includes a victim's assistance room.

Crump also said every officer gets their own office complete with new furniture. There is also a multipurpose room for events.

Employees said they are happy to be moving into a new building during the holidays.
