Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - Lexington School District Two Superintendent Dr. Venus Holland has announced when she'll be stepping down as the district's leader.

The district announced Friday that Holland is retiring, and will resign effective June 30, 2015.

Holland has been with the district in a variety of roles for 27 years, including as superintendent for the last six.

The district's board of trustees credit Holland for leading the district through difficult funding challenges and for being a champion of children.

The District Two School Board says it will work with Holland over the next 17 months to work for a smooth transition to a new leader.
