Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Belk has announced plans to renovate the space currently occupied by Sears at Columbiana Mall, anticipating a Summer of 2015 opening.
The company plans to spend $6.1 million to renovate their existing space, with plans on moving their current men's department into the new space.
Belk says they will relocate their Men's apparel into the renovated Sears space, creating a 50,000 square foot Belk Men's Store.
They plan to renovate the current space occupied by the men's apparel, expanding their sellings pace for home decor, kids, and ladies apparel.
The renovation project is slated to start in October of this year, with a projected completion of all projects by summer of 2015, planned to occupy a combined 242,000 square feet of retail space at Columbiana Mall.
Belk has had a retail operation in Columbia since they first opened a store in 1930, followed by their opening at Columbiana Mall in 1998, and a $2 million renovation of the store in 2010.
