Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- A national study performed by the Violence Policy Center in Washington, DC has ranked South Carolina 2nd in the nation when it comes to men murdering females.
Annually, the Center ranks homicide data from around the country based upon domestic violence deaths, and the current statistic is an analysis of 2010 homicide reports of women murdered by men.
The state's ranking of 2nd was based upon homicide rate per 100,000 females, a rate of 1.94.
South Carolina's previous ranking in the analysis released in 2011 was 7th in the country.
After 10 years, Sistercare's signature fundraising event has provided funding for shelter, counseling, and advocacy to the community's abused women and children.
This year's Song Bird Cafe will be Thursday night, October 4th at 7pm, at the Leaside Conference Center in Columbia.
