McLean, VA (written by Jayne Clark/USA Today) -- More than 150 museums will waive admission on Sept. 29, National Museum Day.

To take advantage of the deal, go to and print out a ticket, good for two people. (One per household, please.)

The Smithsonian has 168 affiliate museums in 39 states.

They're a diverse bunch ranging from a ranch on Hawaii's Big Island that spotlights paniolo heritage, to an Arab American museum in Dearborn, Mich., to a repository of railroad history in former train depot in Baltimore.

National Museum Day, sponsored by Smithsonian Magazine, is meant to encourage visitation among those who don't frequent museums.

In the Midlands, The Columbia Museum of Art, The McKissick Museum on USC's campus, and the Lexington County Museum are all participating this year.

Visit the Smithsonian Magazine's website for more information and to print tickets.
