Five Women Arrested in Sumter, SC Prostitution Sting

Sumter, SC (WLTX) -- Five female prostitution suspects were arrested Tuesday after investigators say they solicited sex to undercover police officers.

According to officials with the Sumter Police Department, the women were arrested as part of a prostitution sting that officers conducted in parts of the city.

Police arrested 40-year-old Annette Caldwell of Wen-Le Court, 42-year-old Rebecca Fitzpatrick of Ridge Street, 47-year-old Barbara Hodge of South Harvin Street, 28-year-old Shameka Johnson of North Main Street, and 46-year-old Francine Spann of Gaddy Street.

Fitzpatrick and Johnson were each charged with their first offense of prostitution, while Caldwell, Hodge and Spann were each charged with a second or subsequent offense of prostitution.

Each suspect is detained at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing.
