Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- USC head football coach Steve Spurrier says he plans on coaching three more years.

Spurrier made that announcement on his weekly radio call-in show Thurday after several internet reports had surfaced suggesting the coach was considering stepping down at season's end. The subject of Spurrier's future has also been a hot topic on various sports talk shows.

"I guess I was supposed to be leaving," Spurrier remarked.

Spurrier cited the play of stars such as Marcus Lattimore, Jadeveon Clowney, and Connor Shaw as reasons to stay.

Spurrier also said he wants to become the school's all-time leader in victories. Currently, Spurrier has 51 wins at Carolina, just 13 behind Rex Enright's 64, a mark which has held since 1955.

Back in April, USC gave Spurrier a pay raise. His current contract expires after the 2013 season.

In his seventh season at USC, Spurrier has Carolina one win away from a school-record sixth SEC win in one season. In 2010, he led Carolina to its first appearance in the SEC Championship game.
