Richland County, SC (WLTX) - South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said I-77 from I-26 to Bluff Road was shut down for about six hours on Saturday due to a fatal accident.
Troopers said the two vehicle collision resulting in one death.
Around 8:30 a.m., a 2004 Nissan pick-up truck and a 2011 Hyundai Elantra collided in the northbound lane of I-77.
Troopers said there were two people in the pick-up truck and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected after he lost control of the truck.
Troopers said the truck overturned and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was transported to Palmetto Richland Hospital.
Troopers said the woman in the Elantra was not injured.
