Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Chocolate is usually a word that gets some running for the treadmill to burn of those delicious delights. But Providence Hospital is working to show folks how to cook heart healthy, using that ingredient we all love so much.

They showed several different dishes, like chocolate hummus, chocolate-dusted scallops and chicken in a white chocolate molé sauce, on Tuesday night.

"It's a combination of nutrition education and the talents of the chef," explains Kay MacInnis, a dietician with the hospital, "It really can be healthy and it can be good for you. so, it's just kind of a combination of the two things can both bring to the table, so to speak."

Of course, the most nutritious chocolate to use is dark chocolate with at least 60% cocoa, according to MacInnis.

The hospital is holding two other heart healthy cooking classes: one on February 21st that incorporates wine into different recipes and one on February 28th that focuses on soul food. The classes are held in the cafeteria at Providence Hospital on Forest Drive and cost $40 per session. For more information, check out their website.
