ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina State University trustees say they have resolved the dispute over who is chairman of the board.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports that trustees voted Wednesday 6-4 to name Walter Tobin as chairman.
For two months, Tobin and Patricia Lott have both claimed to be the leader of the trustees. Tobin received the most votes during a September meeting, but other trustees pointed out Tobin did not receive a majority of the votes.
The other trustees held their own vote in October that Lott won.
Tobin said Wednesday he hopes trustees can now come together to focus on the school's problems. The university started the school year facing a $5.5 million deficit.
