(WLTX) --- A 10-1 record which includes a four-point loss to top-ranked Stanford has the USC women's basketball team ranked 19th in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll.

That is up from last week's ranking of 21st.

USC suffered its first loss of the season last Wednesday, a 53-49 setback to the top-ranked Cardinal. But that performance against Stanford obviously caught the eye of voters who did not punish Carolina for the loss, but rewarded the team for that gutsy performance.

The Gamecocks bounced back from that loss with a 20-point win over South Carolina State.

USC will return to action this Saturday when it hosts Western Carolina at 7:00 p.m. The Catamounts are led by former USC player Karen Middleton.
