Boil Water Advisory Issued for Lexington County Area

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The City of Columbia Water Works has experienced an 8" water main break that could result in bacterial contamination.

The affected areas includes:

Brandywine Drive
Quail Valley East from Brandywine Drive to Quail Valley West
Quail Valley West from Deer Trail to Quail Valley East
Beaver Dam Road from Deer Trail to Railfence Drive
and Railfence Drive, all located in Lexington County.

Also, any residents that suffered a loss of water or reduced water pressure are also instructed to follow this boil water advisory.

Residents of the affected neighborhoods are advised to vigorously boil tap water for one full minute prior to cooking or drinking.

Restaurants and food processors that may be located in the affected areas should comply with USDA and SC DHEC recommendations.
