Lexington PD: Man Apprehended after Vehicle Collision Causes Power Outage

Lexington, SC (WLTX)  The Lexington Police Department has arrested Scott Kenneth Brannon, 31 years of age, of Columbia in connection with a traffic collision that occurred on Thursday July 4, that caused a power outage near the Walmart on Sunset Boulevard. 

Brannon is being charged with two counts of failure to stop for police, one count of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, one count of failure to obey police, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and a seat belt violation.  

 

He is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center. Brannon's bond is set at just over $45,000.
 
On the evening of Thursday July 4th an officer with the Lexington Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Brannon in which he immediately accelerated around several vehicles in front of him.  As he tried to maneuver back into the eastbound lane of travel, he struck the front of another vehicle.

Brannon's vehicle then struck a utility pole in the 5600 block of Sunset Boulevard. He was seen crawling from the vehicle and then running away from the scene.  Several searches were conducted for the suspect in adjacent areas, but officers were unable to locate him.
 
Friday afternoon, Lexington Police Officers saw the subject again in the 4900 block of Sunset Boulevard and established a perimeter to locate him.  

With the assistance of the Lexington County K-9 Unit, Lexington County Sheriff's Department, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and a citizen who saw the subject hiding and notified an officer on scene, Lexington Police Officers were able to apprehend the subject.
