Update: Power Outage Leads USC to Cancel Classes Friday

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The University Of South Carolina has cancelled classes for Friday after a power outage.

Originally, the school believed classes may be able to resume by 11 a.m., but the problem persisted long enough that they decided to resume school on Monday.

Faculty and staff working in affected buildings should not report to work and are asked to contact their immediate supervisor for modifications to work schedule. 

The general impact area of the outage is east of Assembly Street, west of Harden Street, north of Blossom Street, and south of Gervais Street -- with the exception of the Graduate Science Research Center and Sumwalt.

Phone voice service may also be interrupted in the affected buildings.
