Feng, Cathrea headline quarterfinalists at Girls Junior

Fort Wayne, IN (Sports Network) - Yueer Feng won both of her matches on Thursday to move into the quarterfinals at the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.

Feng, a quarterfinalist last year, held off Emily Campbell, 2 & 1, in the second round, then cruised by Hannah Green 5 & 4 in the third round.

Cassie Cathrea earned a 3 & 1 win over Jennifer Kupcho in round two before ousting defending champion Minjee Lee in 19 holes in round three.

Feng will face Gabriella Then in the quarterfinal. Then had the biggest win in round three as she cruised by Cheyenne Knight, 7 & 6. Cathrea will take on Bethany Wu in the quarters on Friday.

Both of Wu's matches went 18 holes and she earned hard fought 1-up victories both times.

The other two quarterfinal matches will have Sabrina Bonanno facing Megan Khang and Lakareber Abe taking on Kathleen Scavo.

Bonanno picked up two easy wins on Thursday, including a 4 & 3 victory over stroke-play medalist Bailey Tardy. Khang needed 20 holes to oust Hannah O'Sullivan before she rolled to a 5 & 4 win over Maria Fassi.

Abe and Scevo both earned a pair of 2 & 1 wins Thursday at Sycamore Hills Golf Club.

The quarterfinals and semifinals will both take place on Friday. The 36-hole final is slated for Saturday.
