GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) -- A maintenance mechanic working on a crane in the freezer tower of the Nestle food plant in Gaffney has died in an accident at the plant. Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says James Redmon died Friday from head injuries when his body became trapped. A spokeswoman for the Nestle Prepared Foods Company says Redmon was repairing a piece of equipment when the accident occurred. Roz O'Hearn says the accident was an isolated incident. On July 16th, an ammonia leak at the plant led to the hospitalization of another employee. O'Hearn says the two accidents were unrelated. Fowler says his office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the death.
