GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say they have dropped a sex charge against an assistant football coach that involved a 14-year-old female student.
Solicitor's office spokesman John Tucker says the student was the only witness and her credibility was questionable.
David L. Kelley was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. A message left for him was not immediately returned Thursday.
Authorities say the student told them the coach picked her up after she sneaked out of her home and they made out. Kelley was an in-school suspension monitor who had volunteered as a coach with the football team for five years.
Greenville County district spokesman Oby Lyles says an investigation by school officials has not been completed.
