Columbia, SC (WLTX) - After guiding the Chapin Eagles to the playoffs in his first and only season at the school, Scott Earley will leave to become the new head football coach at Lexington High School.

Sources at both schools, including members of the Chapin football team, have confirmed the move.

Earley, who came to Chapin after winning the 3-A state championship at Myrtle Beach, led the Eagles to seven straight wins to kick off the 2009 season. Chapin's season ended with a loss in the first round of the playoffs and a 7-4 record.

Lexington has been looking for a new head coach since Allen Sitterle retired at the end of this past season.
