Columbia, SC (WLTX) -  For the second year in a row, two Midlands Waffle House Restaurants offered "Waffles by Candlelight," a romantic Valentine's Day Dinner complete with food served on tablecloths and romantic music.

It's not exactly the place most couples would celebrate Valentine's Day, but we found several people doing so at the Waffle House on Hardscrabble Road in Columbia and South Lake Drive in Lexington.

"Joe asked me to come to a candlelight dinner at Waffle House and I thought it was unique and different," Amanda Ferres said about her boyfriend Joe Hannan.

"The passion at Waffle House, it's great! This is where memories and love really happen," Joe Hannan added.

The couple met at a community center back in high school.

"It was really good to be around a person that was comfortable with themselves and didn't really worry about putting on a front and just really cared about people," Amanda said.

"We begin to travel all over to see bands and it just grew into something a little bit more," Joe said, finishing Amanda's sentence.

Now more than ten years later, they're still together, exactly what Waffle House Store Manager Lekettia Bradley had in mind when planning the romantic getaway.

"A lot of people think love is materialistic buying fancy cars and clothes, but it's about making memories and we hope to do that for a lot couples," she said.

The mood seemed mouth-watering while customers said the food and price were satisfying.

"I love it, you can do a hundred things that are great but if you're not with the right person, it's not the same," Joe said, gazing into Amanda's eyes.
