Would you eat at Maurice's BBQ if all Confederate flags were removed?
Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Some Maurice's Barbeque restaurants are taking the Confederate flag off--at least for now.
For years, the Stars and Bars have flown in front of the barbeque chain. But now, the owner of the stores, Maurice Bessinger, says a bad economy has forced him to take down some of those flags.
Bessigner says the flags cost too much money to maintain. The only flags which will remain up are the ones outside his Lexington and West Columbia locations.
Bessinger did say that if the economy picked up, the flags could return.
